Recently, a transportation client was concerned
about the deductibles applicable to their truckers’
liability, but was reluctant to assume further risk. Using
a detailed loss analysis of accidents over ten years, we demonstrated
how the company could save more than $2 million a year in
premiums through increased deductibles, while maintaining
its current level of risk.
Before 2005, truckers’ liability insurance
was the company’s single largest budget item. Today,
after further analysis and some operational adjustments, the
cost is a flat charge of just $50,000 a year. The company
was very pleased with the change, and has used some of the
savings to purchase excess limits coverage to protect the
organization’s net worth.
