When considering a risk management broker, most clients ask the standard questions: How long have you been in the industry? What clients have you served? Can you save me money? But often, clients don’t ask the most critical question – how can you help my company better manage its risks to maximize total return?
Risk management consulting experience provides a broker with analytical expertise, insight into best practices and the ability to serve as a genuine advisor to meet long-term goals. For example, I worked with a client to better negotiate and manage their insurance-related collateral requirements. Over a period of about two years, their collateral obligations were reduced by more than $20 million resulting in lower overall costs and improved credit capacity. Without a solid understanding of the actuarial analysis, that wouldn’t have been possible.
In another situation, my client was acquiring a firm that had historically purchased low limits of liability insurance, leaving my client with potential for unanticipated financial exposure in the transaction. To help alleviate that issue, we were successful in purchasing higher liability limits for the firm to be acquired – retroactive to their incorporation date. My client had increased protection and the transaction was successfully completed.
Having been in this industry for a substantial amount of time, I’ve done and seen a lot. I’ve been a producer, worked in research and development, designed programs and led a national healthcare practice. My background also encompasses negotiations, placements and finance. But my greatest credentials – and client successes – stem from my consulting experience.
